Earlier this year I applied for a grant to create a new body of work for ArtPrize, an international art competition and cultural festival held in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I made it as a finalist to present my idea before a group of judges. I found out that evening of the presentation I didn't win and I was heartbroken.
